How the calculator works

Rather than one blended conversion rate, we follow the actual funnel: how many doors each rep works a day, what share of those turn into a real conversation (talk-to rate), and what share of those conversations turn into a sale (talk-to-sale rate). That gives a modelled number of sales per rep per day, which we scale up by your team size, working days, and average deal value to get a modelled monthly revenue number for your team as it runs today.

Team sizeDoors per rep / dayTalk-to rateTalk-to-sale rateWorking daysAverage deal value

From there, the productivity uplift you set is applied once, to that whole number, not stacked separately onto doors, talk-to rate, talk-to-sale rate, and deal value, which would exaggerate the result. A 10% uplift on £100,000 of modelled monthly revenue gives you £110,000: £10,000 a month, or £120,000 a year, in additional modelled revenue.

What can improve field sales productivity?

The uplift you model above can come from any combination of the below. We're not claiming it comes from one specific place.

  • Clearer territories
  • Less overlap
  • Better information before the knock
  • Faster rep logging
  • Better visibility into activity
  • More targeted coaching
  • Improved conversion through the field sales funnel

What should you measure?

If you want to see where a productivity gain is actually coming from, the numbers to track are the same ones the calculator above is built on: doors knocked, talk-to rate, talk-to-sale rate, lead or appointment rate, and territory coverage.

We go through each one, with worked examples, in Door knocking KPIs: the metrics field sales managers should actually track.
